An interview with Gallery MAR artist George Bodine: “I know that I see things differently, and if I knew why, it would probably help me become a more balanced person. I know that it is always the unseen face, the person who has turned away, the love that is gone and the last light, the sounds of footsteps echoing on stone at night in an alley in Venice, which haunts me and moves my soul. I also love the mystery of night, the softness, the warmth, sometimes the loneliness of the night. I love the sounds of the night in the city.”

Labs are loves, right? We just received a striking new group of paintings from local Utah artist Cristall Harper. In each oil painting (of the artist’s sweet lab), fur is beautifully rendered, and the shadow play strikes just the right chord. The pieces are small, 6″ x 6″, but mighty in spirit and design. Bring your dog by the gallery today and show him the new pieces. We’ll be ready with a scratch (for him) and a smile (for you).

At Gallery MAR, we look forward to celebrating our artists in many ways– art receptions, books, studio visits, and of course sales. Each is a victory for an artist, as he or she hopes to express their vision through a variety of means. We all want to be recognized and appreciated for our life’s work, but most artists don’t often receive the deserved recognition for their beautiful creations. Our artist Amy Ringholz is an exception, because she lives her dreams, and exudes her passions

This lovely blog post is courtesy of Bridgette Meinhold, our Gallery MAR artist… Last night there was an epic thunderstorm – our house was in the mix for at least 2 hours. I loved it and it reminded me of being home in Oklahoma where I grew up with rolling thunderstorms frequently. We don’t get them all the time here in Utah, but when we do – they’re pretty amazing.

I just got back from a 5 day trip though Las Vegas and Brianhead with the Park City annual City Tour. City Tour is a once-a-year opportunity to travel with Park City’s leaders to a nearby town to learn about their government, culture, struggles and triumphs. One of my favorite stops was to the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, in downtown. No, not the strip. Actual downtown, where the City of Las Vegas reigns. The Smith Center was a labor of love by, taking 32 months to build with a $150 Million endowment.

A hearty Thank You to all of our gallery friends and collectors who came by our Park City gallery last night to enjoy a special demonstration by Bridgette Meinhold and Andrzej Skorut, two of our favorite Utah artists. Both artists braved an oncoming storm to set up their easels and do what they do best: paint!
