We have received a beautiful new group of work from our most witty artist, Fred Calleri. The show title is “Super Sonic Snow Cones,” the title of the largest work in the show. This body of work is perfect for our snowy area, with winter fun themes and a new cast of characters, all painted in oil. Fred Calleri was the first artist who signed on with Gallery MAR in 2008, and 5 years later I am so very pleased to continue to show his work. If you’re in town, please join us this Friday the 8th from 6 to 9 pm for our artist reception on the gallery.

At Gallery MAR, we always appreciate the opportunity to help our collectors hang their artwork in their homes, as a complimentary service. But occasionally we call upon the experts, particularly when it is a tricky hanging job. Or, when we need to hang into stone (that’s more than we can handle!). When we need an expert, we call Dave with Aisling Art Installation.

We have been very pleased to see a rush of last-minute gift buyers in the gallery this holiday season. And with two days ’til Christmas, now is the time to come in! Typically, the last of the gift-givers are men coming in, but this year I have been pleasantly surprised to see an equal amount of both men and women waiting until the final moments. To lend a helping hand, here are my top fine last-minute gifts of the season!

Last night we were fortunate to have both Warren Neary and George Bodine in the gallery for their “Here and Abroad II” exhibition reception. Family, friends, and collectors all joined us to celebrate these two talented artists whose works take us from Utah and Colorado, to Italy and France.

Gallery MAR is pleased to announce a new addition to the gallery– Seattle’s Patrick LoCicero. We have been watching this artist’s work for quite some time, and when he sent us a stunning portfolio, the timing was perfect. I tell my artists who are looking for new galleries to add to their own collections– it’s really the best possible situation when the gallery wants you as much as you want to be in the space, and such is the case with Mr. LoCicero. From his artist statement: “My current paintings continue with my interest in the use of overlap, surface texture and collage…”

This last Friday, we held a celebration party for Recycle Utah in the gallery. As it was Live PC Give PC day, we encouraged our guests to donate to our local recycle center, and they did in droves. The day totaled nearly $600,000 in donations for our county’s non-profits, nearly $20,000 of which went to Recycle Utah. Small House Strings performed a beautiful music set, and Savoury Kitchen outdid themselves with gourmet eats.
