In the Park City gallery, I continually hear the phrase: “We have no more room for art!” And what a lovely problem to have! I myself have a small home (as is the case with most miner’s homes built in the late 1800s) here in Park City and there never seems to be enough room for our artwork collection. Nonetheless, it keeps growing. This weekend, my husband and I were traveling through California and happened upon some sculptures by Karen Shapiro that we couldn’t live without. It’s a bug. I know I have a(n art collecting) problem.

Walk MS 2011: Salt Lake City will take place on Saturday, April 30th at The Gateway Shopping Center – Grand Hall located at 90 South 400 West in Salt Lake City. Your participation means we will be working to support programs, services, and research sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and that makes a huge difference to the people who must fight MS every day of their lives. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS.
Oscar’s Nod Elevates Banksy’s Prices

Graffiti artist Banksy’s plan to attend the Oscar ceremony in disguise was vetoed by the Academy for Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. But that hasn’t stopped the additional hundreds of thousands of dollars which have been added to the value of his work.

We just received ten new paintings from New Mexico-based artist Michael Kessler. A personal favorite of mine, Michael Kessler paints in layers of acrylic with a high gloss resin topping the abstracted landscapes. Although the images below are gorgeous, the pieces in person are a site to behold. Please stop by the Park Ciy gallery soon to enjoy these masterful works yourself.
Arts Kids Steps up to the Plate!

Penelope Moore at Red White and Snow 2011

Gallery MAR artist Penelope Moore has just told us that she is the featured artist for this year’s “Red, White, and Snow,” benefiting the National Ability Center. Moore’s painting is featured in the program, as is her biography, and her painting of a bottle of Staglin Cabernet will be in the live auction with a bottle of the $185 wine. What a fabulous event for a great cause– if you are able to attend, you can look forward to meeting Penelope Moore at the event.

Support ARTS-KIDS Annual Celebration & Fundraiser Park City, UT—“Step Up to the Plate,” Arts-Kids’ annual fundraiser will be held on Sunday, February 27 from 6 to 9 pm at the Newpark Resort Hotel. The event unites chefs from eight Park City restaurants in friendly culinary competition. Guests will vote for the People’s Choice award and four professional food critics will name the top chef of the evening.
