Penelope Moore at Red White and Snow 2011

Gallery MAR artist Penelope Moore has just told us that she is the featured artist for this year’s “Red, White, and Snow,” benefiting the National Ability Center. Moore’s painting is featured in the program, as is her biography, and her painting of a bottle of Staglin Cabernet will be in the live auction with a bottle of the $185 wine. What a fabulous event for a great cause– if you are able to attend, you can look forward to meeting Penelope Moore at the event.

Support ARTS-KIDS Annual Celebration & Fundraiser Park City, UT—“Step Up to the Plate,” Arts-Kids’ annual fundraiser will be held on Sunday, February 27 from 6 to 9 pm at the Newpark Resort Hotel. The event unites chefs from eight Park City restaurants in friendly culinary competition. Guests will vote for the People’s Choice award and four professional food critics will name the top chef of the evening.

Kimball Art Center’s RELEVANT 2011 Program Looking for Applicants

The Kimball Art Center’s RELEVANT 2011 Artist-in-Residence program is designed to give five selected college and graduate-level art students the knowledge and platform necessary to become successful full-time career artists. Held in Park City, Utah this program provides participants in-studio sessions with mentors, panel discussions and networking events with art-industry professionals, and the opportunity to showcase their work at the 2011 Park City Kimball Arts Festival, held on August 5 – 7, 2011.
Brad Stroman at the Hudson River Museum in New York

As we highlighted in an earlier edition of News MAR, Brad Stroman’s work was recently featured in an exhibition at the Hudson River Museum in New York. The exhibition focused on how American painters (from the Hudson River School to contemporary American movements) interpret nature, and in particular leaves. “Paintbox Leaves: Autumnal Inspiration from Cole to Wyeth” exhibited more than sixty works tracing the history of the American Autumn landscape painting, beginning with brilliantly-hued fall scenes created by Hudson River School painters such as Jasper Cropsey, Frederic Edwin Church and Thomas Cole.
