One of the greatest joys of entrepreneurship is having the ability to decide who you want to work with. I get to pick my artists, and choose my staff, and it’s even more lovely when they’re friends. Last month, artist Bridgette Meinhold and I drove from Park City to the Truckee area to deliver a painting, commissioned for a very special on-mountain home. As we spent eight hours in a car together — we learned more about each other than in our eight years of working together!

What they love most about the house is “the calm effect that the architecture has on us. In our daily lives, we live with chaos and are constantly problem solving. At home, it’s a welcomed respite to see clean design and fine art that both relaxes us and rejuvenates our spirits; coming home to what we have created is like a deep exhale. We love to surround ourselves with beauty.”

Renovations are underway in the main museum which will reopen in autumn 2018. Nearby sits the Rothko Chapel (1971), which the de Menil’s commissioned from the artist to be a nondenominational and contemplative space featuring his design and 14 large paintings.

Since 2009, we have sold too many of his gorgeous paintings to count, and I have added another piece to my own collection as well. I love learning from this artist and working together to try out new ideas.

I was most excited to see a new series of sculptures that are Parrish’s signature BioResin and wood. This time, the sourced wood was flown from his home-town in Alaska. The sculptures are layered with heavily grained wood and deep, translucent centers of BioResin in a variety of colors.

“Many of the artists from the very beginning are still with us,” she said. “When I started, I represented 15 artists. Now there are 32, and out of them, seven have been with me from the beginning.”
