Our good friend Dave Berry with Aisling Art Installation just completed a new hanging of Amy Ringholz’s work “Brothers” at a gorgeous home here in Deer Valley, Utah. Berry used a laser beam on a tripod to find the perfectly correct symmetry for the installation. He has some incredible tricks up his sleeves, and his work is always guaranteed. Utah Arts Festival features Gallery MAR Artist

If you visit the 2011 Utah Arts Festival, you will have the lucky opportunity to see a gorgeous collection of paintings by Aaron Memmott, Gallery MAR artist. The 2011 Utah Arts Festival’s Artist Marketplace features more than 155 local and national artists. Artists’ applications and portfolios are juried to be accepted into the Utah Arts Festival.
Four New paintings by Scott Lloyd Anderson

Gallery MAR artist Scott Lloyd Anderson is recognized as one of the top plein aire painters in the nation. He routinely wins at plein aire competitions and juried shows. Mr. Anderson’s painting, Valentines for Sale won the top prize at Salon International 2010. The piece was selected from 392 juried works out of 1300 submissions from 46 states and 18 countries. He was also featured in the March edition of American Art Collector Magazine. I practice an approach to plein air painting that centers around the “prismatic palette,” a color theory with roots in fin de siecle France.
A Better Solution for “Will You Please Donate?”

Artists and art galleries are typically the go-to source when a non-profit is looking to find items for an auction or special event fundraiser. And many artists and art galleries are happy to oblige. My artists are incredibly generous and have had some valuable returns on their donation opportunities. However, when an artist donates a painting, they are only able to deduct (as a tax deduction) the cost of their materials that they used to create the piece.

32 failures and 22 successes. Would you give this track record an award. Probably not. So maybe it’s time to shift our perceptions. Jeanne Claude and Christo have the very same track record. And last night, we celebrated this lifetime of achievement (so far!) at Kingsbury Hall. Environmental artist Christo visited the University of Utah in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where he spoke about his current projects and life’s work (with partner of 40 years, Jeanne-Claude) in a lecture titled “Christo and Jeanne-Claude, two works in progress: Over the River, Project for the Arkansas River, Colorado and The Mastaba, Project for the United Arab Emirates.”

The Salt Lake Art Center has taken an exciting new direction (yay for Utah Arts!). In the last few years I’ve seen the programs, shows, and events “elevated” to a new standard. It’s not always easy to get away from my Park City gallery and head down to SLC, but I try to when there’s an art event that I think will not only benefit me, but also my artists and collectors. One such event was last week, an Art Talk put together by Utah Lawyers for the Arts.
