Charles Saatchi, the “Citizen Kane of the art world,” is about to present himself outside of the art world with his new reality television show “Saatchi’s Best of British.” It’s a new BBC series, which Saatchi will host, comparable Heidi Klum’s “Project Runway.”

Ryan Brown’s Center for Academic Studies. Gallery MAR artist Ryan Brown (of Utah) has recently opened a new art training school, modeled after the prestigious Florance Academy of Art in Italy. The Center for Academic Study and Naturalist Painting (CAS) is an answer to the growing need that a number of students find when seeking traditional academic art instruction.

Utah artist Rob Colvin views the world through shape and color, and his exhibit “Geometry of the Land,” at the Springville Museum of Art, is a typical representation of his artistic style. “The main way I would describe my work is ‘geometrical,’ ” Colvin said. “That’s the way I’ve always seen the world.”

The Gallery MAR view to Main Street is unmatched and this week we were able to take in all of the Sundance sights and frights. Stars who were spotted: Pierce Brosnan, Wesley Snipes, Benjamin Bratt, Anthony Edwards, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and more.
Sundance Comes to Park City

Main Street has official been deluged with film-goers, studio execs, and celebrity gawkers. This quiet scene from Warren Neary’s studio is a far cry from the intense action and noise that is currently taking over Park City. We’ll keep a tally of celebreties who darken our door and post in the next blog entry.
Obama and the Arts

I would love to see Obama’s new administration follow the advice of France’s President, Nicolas Sarkozy. In France, beginning this week, all young people 25 or under will now have free access to any public museum or monument such as the Louvre or the Chateau de Versailles. In th past, all cisitzens under 18 already enjoyed free tickets.
