“I’ve tried to distill the essence

of the experience of being in the world

when light and space are present.”

We wanted to share the beautiful photos from Shawna Moore’s newest body of work, an expression of the artist’s freedom and play. This latest exhibition allowed us to host Shawna Moore for a residency, as she took a few days to be here in Park City and meet with collectors and friends, and demonstrate her encaustic process at the Mullin Meadows Residency.

All photos are by our Victoria Slagel, Fine Art Consultant.

“This newest work reflects my ever-evolving painting curiosities and a recent six-month sojourn to the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Light can be described as always moving. It will run, dive, bounce, refract and bend in all directions taking with it information from everything it encountered on its journey, until it is observed and recorded.

In these 2021 paintings, I describe in wax the freedom that I find in the process of painting and in my own time of work and play.

I’ve tried to distill the essence of the experience of being in the world when light and space are present.”
