Encaustic, a process where pigmented beeswax is layered and fused with heat, gives Meinhold’s landscapes a depth and glow that no other medium can quite replicate.⁠ She creates layers of encaustic on top of casein paint, and then layers the wax again — over and over to crate depth and her signature foggy look.⁠ ⁠

“If Only” (above) is Meinhold at her most vibrant. The piece stand outs for color, sunlit blue skies, vivid pine green, and golden-yellow sagebrush that pop with a warmth and clarity rarely seen in encaustic work. ⁠ By contrast, pieces like “Charmer Study” and “Buoyed Study” lean into a hushed, monochromatic palette, soft blues and dusky violets, mountains and tree lines dissolving into mist and atmosphere.⁠ ⁠

That range, from bright and sunlit to soft and contemplative, is what makes this body of work so compelling: each piece brings its own mood to a collection.⁠
