This fashionable and spacious apartment would be the perfect place to watch the Met Gala’s Blue Carpet: complete with artwork by Alison Rash and Shawna Moore.

We love to celebrate art and fashion at Gallery MAR, and the annual Met Gala each year is always a scene to behold. Did you watch the Blue Carpet rundown as well? Or just the aftermath on social media? The evening’s tribute to Black dandyism was sculptural and artistic, with a few stand-outs. “Art,” as gala co-chair Pharrell Williams noted, “is an expression of our community,” and a reference to the long history of Black individuality.

The Met Gala, previously called the Costume Institute Benefit, is known as the world’s most prestigious and high-glam event in fashion. It’s always on the first Monday in May. Those who are given the coveted invites are asked to bring their best fashion statements, and are encouraged to explore the year’s theme, and also promote a chosen designer. Often, the guests attend on the arm of the designer with whom they are working, and these duos are some of my favorite appearances. The more expressive and elaborate the better — and the press follows. These outfits are photographed and talked about for years to come, so the pressure is high for attendees.

The following post below shows eight incredible looks juxtaposed with fine art, the chosen selections that Editor Katie White sees as a “call back to visual art through the ages.” Chappell Roan as a Jeff Koons? Of course! Shakira compared to a Christo? Yes please! So while we are sad to say that we cannot post the photos ourselves, for fear of copyright infringement, the connections and art that she picked is just too good to no share — so enjoy the post at the link below!
