A new book by Judy Sund, Exotic: A Fetish for the Foreign, explores our human fascination with the exotic, strange and foreign especially as it relates to art.  Absorption of foreign arts, design, architecture and cuisine has enriched Western society for thousands of years.

On February 1, Gallery MAR takes a dive into the exotic Cuban culture with an art talk by philanthropist and collector, Madeleine Plonsker. She will relate experiences of over two decades supporting the arts in Cuba.  Her 2014 book, The Light in Cuban Eyes,  showcases the work of 50 Cuban photographers, and copies will be available for purchase.  Seating is limited, and this event requires your RSVP to info@gallerymar.com.

The Art Lounge at Gallery MAR is our newest space for art talks, demonstrations and events.

Look for these upcoming Saturday art talks:

Warren Neary February 22 at 2 pm

Matt Flint February 29 at 3 pm.
