We kicked off our summer season at Gallery MAR with Western artist and photographer Maura Allen, traveling up to Blue Sky Ranch with her camera bag in tow. The long twisted dirt road to the top of the mountain proved to be worth the trek as a lovely spread of fresh pastries, fruit, homemade granola, and mimosas waited for us. The views left us breathless, every direction you turned, more rolling hills and untouched mountain landscape graced us with their majesty. Allen shared intimate details of her childhood, her photography work, and career which eventually led to serigraph printing, inspired by an exhibition on Andy Warhol. Allen was one of eight siblings, raised by their single mother, and art was always the activity of choice growing up, setting the tone for a lifetime artist. After the discussion, target throwing with a hatchet was on the agenda, which is a lot harder than it looks. The collectors that joined the event had the privilege of getting their portrait taken by Allen which will be made into their very own work of art.
