“It’s not what happens to you: it’s what you do with what happens to you” Chris Waddell

Artist Penelope Moore partners with Honorary Chairs of Red White & Snow, Shari and Garen Staglin of Staglin Family Vineyard and helps raise $28,000 for the National Ability Center in Park City, UT. The National Ability Center offers a multitude of sports and recreation programs for people with disabilities.

Penelope Moore, represented by Gallery MAR in Park City, UT, created a special painting for Red, White & Snow, an annual event to benefit the National Ability Center that took place March 10-12th 2011. Penelope was the featured artist during the event. Her painting Ruby Romance, oil on canvas, 24×18″ depicting a bottle of 2006 Staglin Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon with a bouquet of roses was the official artwork of the event and was used for the poster, website and gala schedule.

During the sold out Gala Dinner at Montage Deer Valley, Penelope’s original oil painting along with a 3L bottle of Staglin 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon and a one-of-a-kind experience that included a VIP tour & tasting, two night accommodations and a dinner for eight at the Staglin Family Vineyard Estate was featured in the Live Auction, Lot #12 – Under the Tuscan Sun, valued at $10,000.

As the evening progressed, it was evident that the room was filled with love, inspiration and enthusiasm. As the Live Auction moved forward the energy in the room began to swell and the numbers began to snowball. When Lot #12 came up on the auction block, the room was on fire. Shari and Garen Staglin approached the stage with their family, Penelope joined them, and an assistant showcased the painting. Garen presented a special invitation to partake in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity accompanied by “a beautiful rendition” of their 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon by Penelope.

Once they exited, Auctioneer David Reynolds lit up the stage. Numbers began to roll and roll. Within seconds the lot surpassed its $10,000 value and nearly tripled, selling for an all time record breaking number of $28,000. The room exploded with cheers and a standing ovation. This lot was the highest individual bid of the night and in the history of Red, White & Snow.

The weekend proved to be a huge success for the National Ability Center, who’s mission is to to develop lifetime skills for people of all ages and abilities by providing affordable outdoor sports and recreational experiences in a nurturing environment.

The National Ability Center makes the seemingly impossible possible.
