Auction item No. 4 was Matt Flint’s “The Blues” at the Art Starts Here Gala’s live auction. Ten live auction items all reached their estimates thanks to our bidders and John Curley, auctioneer.
Thank you to those of you who attended the 2018 Art Starts Here gala, on August 2nd, 2018 at the Dejoria Center in Kamas.
You helped make the night a huge success. We hope you caught up with friends, found inspiration in the Kimball Art Center’s mission, and had a memorable evening. With your support, The Kimball Art Center raised over $330,000. These funds allow Kimball Art Center to continue to provide art education in schools, free community exhibitions, and inspire and connect our community… as well as Hollywood!

Guests and bidders at the Art Starts Here Gala. The 38 table centerpieces were hand-made vases created by the Kimball Art Center ceramics studio, headed by Shasta Krueger. Event design and inspiration was from owner Joseph Urankar of Vivince Event Studio, Park City with guidance by Lee Parker, Gala Co-Chair.
Surprises abounded, including a mysterious Guide Character, who led guests throughout the event. Emily Loughlin created the character’s costume, acted by Olivia.

The silent auction featured original works of art from Kimball Art Festival artists, as well as experiential packages from local Park City companies. Event structures are from In the Event, Salt Lake City. Painting by Claiborne Colombo.
Opening the program portion of the gala, three Ballet West students performed the Paquita Pas De Trois. The 10,000 strand String Sculpture was created by Vivince Event Design and executed by his team and more 60 volunteer hours.

The Guide Character gestures to the string sculpture. As guests began their meals, the Young Artists Academy of the Kimball Art Center got to work on a platform, painting and drawing on an impressive sculpture (hidden behind the strings). At 8 PM, the strings fell to the floor, revealing the Young Artists and their creation. Sculpture designed and executed by Janet Massimino, a locally based artist and Kimball Art Center board member.
