Skiing has always been a unique way through which we experience the landscape. Our sense of space is awakened -- especially on a chairlift or moving through the trees. Our perceptions can be blurred, heightened and or altered. The figures that occupy my mountain spaces seem to know that too. They look deep into the vast, white distance or loom among the sublime slopes. In many of the compositions I have taken liberties with color. The viewer is seeing the scenery through the bright lensed goggles that skiers use. The result is a world where we create a new mountain landscape.

As an artist my work is often tied to the landscape. My experiences surfing and snowboarding has been informative on the forms and subjects I have chosen to depict. Additionally, I'm heavily influenced by art history, especially French modern painters whose work inspires my palettes.
