Debbie Fowler grew up in Idaho and began her painting career 15 years ago. She has painted professionally and exhibited in galleries since 1997, and has studied and worked with renowned Utah artists such as Ovanis Berberian, Larry Wade, George Allen, Ann Marie Oborn, and Diane Turner.
“I love all types of art and have tried many forms. I have done stained glass, wood working, water color, sewing, tons of crafts but always come back to oil painting. I love beautiful things, children playing on the beach, flowers in my yard, sunsets or animals in a green field. I am constantly taking pictures to work from, but love to paint out on location as much as possible.”
Fowler’s work is exhibited in Colorado, California, Iowa, and Utah. Her lush, painterly pieces range from bright floral still life to sun drenched landscapes and beach scenes. The light and energy in her paintings feels fresh, an accomplishment through bold brushstrokes and the artist’s love of her subjects. Fowler enjoys painting Plein Air, outside in the direct light of day, to get the best possible lighting and shadows. After spotting the “perfect barn” off to the side of the road, Debbie will pull over, get out her paints, and get to work. It is that joy and excitement that she brings to her paintings at Gallery MAR.
Fowler resides in Utah and loves living here with her two sons and two daughters
